I am currently thinking of installing a stoker stove and I need some advice. I currently heat with a propane furnace and do not want to pay those high fuel bills again this year. My house is approx. 3400 sqft, a full basement plus two stories above that. We currently try to keep the house between 68 and 70 degrees. My biggest problem is that I have no flue in the house. I am looking at a leisure line hyfire I or II with a power vent. Is this going to work for me in my basement?

I personnally prefer the "whole house solution". Your house at 3400 sq. ft. will not be a good candidate for a stove, I would get a coal furnace or a boiler and tie it in to your existing system. You can get your domestic hot water from it too. It may cost more, but in the long run you will be much happier and more comfortable. The lack of a chimney can be addressed with a power vent if needed, I however recommend a real masonry chimney. Either way, big savings.
