And political upheaval in Ivory Coast is affecting coffee crops in the African nation. Shipments of cocoa, sugar and coffee have been disrupted during fighting after a disputed presidential election in November, and farmers cannot return to their fields until the turmoil subsides.
Other major exporting countries, including Indonesia, are facing smaller crops this year because of drought, flooding and other inclement weather.
