I just used Permatex copper anti-seize lubricant when I assembled the stove this year. MUCH more quiet now. We'll see how it holds up this season. Stay tuned ....

I always made a lot of noise early. Got all them young woodpeckers up & down to get barn chores done. AND, then a damn good breakfast ;)

That may be the ticket... Thanks
From what I understand, graphite (meta-anthracite) is a grade up from anthracite...?..So it would have a very high combustion temp. so it might "be the ticket".

That Permatex anti-seize is good up to 1,800° ..... so, if your grates are that hot, you've got some other problems to worry about ....... like anything within 3' of your stove combusting!

Would also be hard to look at your stove without sunglasses on ...

Ahhhh, put some nickel anti-seize on the beast. All better. Freetown I do have a small lash sound with the back and forth motion but thats not a big deal. The noise I had sounded as if it was a box style turkey call. Thanks for the ideas guys!

Exactly where did you put the anti-seize? Was the stove shut down when you did it?

Thier is a small block shaped plate where the shaker handle mounts on the side of the mark 3. So I applied the anti-seize with the brush applicator in that area. I did a good shake and shoveled all ashes out of ashpan area. Temps in stove where low with being 50ish outside, so I applied more where the "shaker rod" enters the "grate link". I doubt Im using the correct names of part. Not hard to do without shutting down just use some caution and common sense. Next spring after shutdown I will probably put more in the areas I couldnt get to safely. I figured any metal on metal contact could use it.
