Does anyone know where you can buy methanol to add to windshield washer fluid for winter use. would be looking to buy it in 5 gallon pails. If you know do you have a price?

You can also check with your friendly propane dealer, it's sucked into evacuated tanks to keep moisture out.

We used it to keep the air lines from clogging on the snow guns...
55 gal drums...
That stuff can cause problems if not properly handled...
We were outdoors, but used static grounds and face shields when transfering...
Race shops and industrial supply for smaller amounts...
Track down the biodiesel people they use it in their brew...

Thanks for the replies, Poconoeagle pm'd me a # it is just not going to be viable. till you get shipping in you really can't make your own washer solvent. it only comes out to a few cents cheaper per gallon than the premade stuff. if you went threw thousands of gallons would be a differant story, but not for the little we go through.

I used to have an Olds that had a methanol injected engine & just bought it at the parts counter, then again I guess there aren't any more Olds dealers.

If it is just for personal use, I buy the cheapest washer fluid and spike it with a 1/4 to 1/3 of a bottle per gallon of cheapest dry gas I find. Dry gas is nothing but methanol. Do this in the winter to keep the fluid freezing in the lines and on the winshield. It adds just a few cents per gallon to the washer fluid cost but works a heck of a lot better.Coalfire wrote:Does anyone know where you can buy methanol to add to windshield washer fluid for winter use. would be looking to buy it in 5 gallon pails. Now your talking Smitty, soon enough you couldn,t see out the windshield clean or dirty & really wouldn't care anyhow. Oh wait, I guess maybe you could fill the car if you could still find it.
