He bought Centralia coal. He doesn't need matches, it's already lit!
Whoops! I'm a female..... totally...... all the way down the road!
But, how would you know that anyway? It's a coal forum and you can't hear that I have a soft voice. hehe :funny: :funny:

My husband doesn't type, so it has fallen to me to "mine" the forum and I'm trying to do my best. (smiles)

* So..... what do I need to know about Centralia not needing matches?!! Now I'm curious...

Just a little "joke", as long as you didn't live in Centralia I suppose.

Centralia is a borough and ghost town in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. Its population has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to 12 in 2005, 9 in 2007, and 10 in 2010, as a result of a mine fire burning beneath the borough since 1962.

Wow, that's shocking. I've read that there are coal mines in China that have been burning for centuries.
btw: I just noticed we are neighbors of sorts. I'm in the greater Fall River, MA area. :verycool:

Good to see another SNE coal burner around here. I think I'm going to be out your way this week. Something about a Lego exhibit? My wife says things and I just say "Yes dear" while having no idea what I'm agreeing to!

LOL! :D That could be dangerous! ;) I was joking earlier about having a soft voice, but it's actually not so funny. My husband has moderate hearing loss (occupational), and has a hard time hearing my 'range', so I sometimes have to make sure he does know what he's agreeing to. Is he doing a "yes dear" or was it a "miss-hear", lol. ...And life goes on. :)

I've seen Lego exhibits on TV. I'm always surprised at the creativity and what people can dream up. Always something unexpected! Have a great time!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I missed the coffee this weekend. It sounds like everyone had a full calendar. I had a 4 day weekend due to teacher's workdays and the schools being closed for voting so I made a quick trip to GA to see my parents and to take my sister that wood burning insert I had found for her. I pulled a 4X7 trailer; I couldn't even feel it behind the F-150. The movers were there to get it in the house just as planned so the only thing left to do is install it; that guy is coming tomorrow. Hopefully, it will help her reduce her electric bill - she is in an all electric house.

Mom is weak from the chemo but doing better then expected but Dad is decidedly worse and no longer recognizes anyone. He has left home in search of "his house and wife and kids" three times over the month but didn't get far before my sisters caught up with him. They have alarms on on the doors but he walks around outside for 30 mins or so each day and he decided to "go home" and Mom couldn't stop him. The time is quickly coming when there will be no choice but to place him in a more secure environment. Thankfully, Mom is coming to that realization, too. I definitely have to make more opportunities to get down there.

DK still hasn't given me "the match" but he was complaining about the whole house furnace coming on too frequently as I walked in the door so the time is fast coming. The problem is it's been so hot during the day - 65* - 70* - that it's hard to keep the draft. Next week is supposed to be even warmer so we will wait... I hope everyone has a great week! Lisa

I let mine go out last night. Got up to 67° out there today - no point in wasting coal. It's cheap, but it ain't free. :nono:

Well I lit the match tonight after work - it was chilly and blustery all day today and I was tired of hearing the furnace cut on and off while I was still cold. I have the coal bed about half developed as I write this and the temperature has gone up 5 degrees already. Wahoo! My challenge will come on Monday when the outside temperature is supposed to go back up to 70 degrees for about 4 or 5 days. Thanks to the knowledge I've gained from the forum I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Take care. Lisa
