Hyfire II fired up and working fine

Well, here we are, back again for another coal heating season. (This is our 3rd, so maybe we're not so "Newbie" now, LOL!) Hello again to all and hope everything is going well! Hubby just fired up the Hyfire II a week ago and it's chugging along nicely, no problems. We just love our Hyfire II!!! Hubby built a second coal bin during the summer, too, so we can now store about 6 tons of rice. The new coal bin is built higher up than the "old" one, (our land has a retaining wall with a higher section) and the bins are attached at the back. They are open to each other, so when the new bin is filled, the coal just flows through the back and down into the "old" bin, and when that's full, the new bin then fills up. The new bin can be loaded from 15 feet away, which allows us to get our coal from other sellers besides People's, too! He also did a modification to the front of the "old" bin, made a trough, which fills up with coal, then he can stand the bucket on the ground and making it so much easier to fill the bucket with coal. I was going to post some pics, but the camera battery is dead. Once it's charged up, I'll take a few shots. EDIT: Pics are posted further down.

This year we ordered 5 ton of Jedo from Kresge. We tried some Jedo last year and it burned so much cleaner, with so much less waste, than People's product. Hope it's the same this year! We've got about 5-1/2 ton, so we should be set for the winter! Bring it on!

I promised some pics of the new coal bin, so here they are!

You can see where the two bins are attached (lower back of the higher one and upper back of the lower one) and where the coal flows from the bottom of the higher bin into the lower bin. Then, coal flows into the little trough that was added to the bin hubby built two years ago. The lower bin also has front doors that open with guillotine boards behind the doors, doors on the top, and the whole lid that can be opened as well, so there's good access to that bin to get coal out of the corners and into that trough at the season's end.

The higher bin just flips open from the top so it can be loaded, so there are no other opening doors on it, it wasn't necessary. The guys who delivered our coal this year were very impressed with the design. Hubby did good!

Yes, thank you, so far so good Connie, just about 7 degrees warmer down here or so!!! I'm up in East Stroudsburg several times a week with work, I pull a mobile medical imaging coach into Advanced Radiology Services just off Rt. 447 just up from the Martz bus terminal...

It worked nice and smooth at delivery, and the little trough has been working very well too, so now all we have to do is get some fill to cover up all that rock, LOL! The Poconos grows rocks, the number one crop... we have very little dirt and the house foundation is right in a rock ledge.

Well I know exactly where you're at. I've used Advanced in the past. Was a chilly 28 up here this morning, way too early for this cold. Got a feeling it might be a bad one this year, but at least I feel good knowing we're all ready for it. I'll tell hubby (Kurt) that he gets atta boys from you guys!

Hi Dave, how're you doing? Yep, it's time to get that Hyfire going! Thanks for the comments on the bin, hubby worked hard on it.
