As for dumping ash in a driveway, I'm a little concerned. Fly ash and moisture will create some sulfuric acid right? I've seen what moist fly ash did to the outside of my single wall black pipe chimney. It ate the black paint off down to the metal in a matter of 6 weeks. I actually took the pipe down, scrubbed it clean and sealed the joints with hi temp silicone to halt further corrosion..

So back to my concern about the driveway. Couldn't ash on the driveway be harsh on the vehicle's metal? I certainly don't want to promote corrosion on my vehicles lol...
I guess over time it could! When it's dry it might get on the subframe . But it probably wouldn't do near as much damage as the salt they put on the roads . Dig you a nice hole somewhere .

lightning, I've been doing my drive for 3 yrs. If you are going to do it--my experience--I spread a few bags of sakrete on it in the spring after run off and then I roll the tears out of it all spring, summer & fall.Hose sprinkling it lightly w/ the hose or just waiting for a light rain. It is in better shape then any black top around here. It takes some time & effort but well worth it. ;) The sakrete & rolling are the finishing touches. I mean, they do use fly ash in concrete.

Same here Fred,

My dirt/gravel driveway is a good 60 yards long. It has 3 culverts yet, always gets low spots that I fill in with coal ash. Can't beat the stuff. After a day it's frozen solid or turns to concrete with water. I dump mine and rake it a bit thats it. Best pot hole filler there is!

I knew it!!! I've got way too much time on my hands. toothy If I didn't roll the pastures as much as I do,which takes me right down the driveway, that's probably all I'd do also. ;)
