Pit Bull

Another party pooper here, the neighbor had a pit bull, seemed nice, but would always get loose, the police where their several times. One day my daughter was outside, saw the dog loose and ran to the house because the dog chased her. Natural instince for the dog to chase. The owner said she should not of run, WHAT is a 7 year old going to do. I had called 911 and they told me it was not an emergency, I TOLD THEM I HAVE A PISTOL IN MY HAND AND I'M GOING OUTSIDE, IF IT COMES TO ATTACK ME ON MY PROPERTY, I WILL SHOOT IT :rambo2: . The man on 911 called me back, said the police would be notified. IF one of those dogs latches on it will not let go.

I don't know about your state, but here in Maine it's legal to shoot any animal that's on your property & causes you fear.

Freddy, that just sounds silly to me--in NYS even an animal causing problems w/ livestock let alone people, can be shot, but as with anything you better be able to prove your case if it were to go that far--out here where I am I doubt that would arise--of course dureing Deer season--dogs running deer are open game & that is posted in our local paper

I don't know what the law in NJ is about that; you probably have to apply for a permit to think about shooting a dog chasing your child on your own property.

How could their be a dog body, get rid of it fast. After all, their are leash laws, fine the owner if he thinks his dog was at my place. I know noth'in :o

If you shoot a criminal in MA, you go to jail. I would imagine if you shoot an animal out of season (no season on dogs that I'm aware of) you go to jail. In this state, if you don't call 911 & have the whole situation play out so that it can be recorded, & you use your firearm to defend yourself in any way .... you guessed it! You go to JAIL! Welcome to NEW AMERICA!

But back on topic .... I have a good friend of mine whose wife runs a daycare out of their home. They also have 2 young daughters .... and had a pit bull. Had that dog for 12 years until it died of cancer (like everyone I know, go figure ....). Never once had that dog ever shown aggression to anyone in that house that was supposed to be there. If a stranger walked into the driveway from the street, now that was a different story. 8-) The way it should be. Not many people messed with them. They live in the liberal c(SH)ity .... so better to have a dog than risk going to jail for legally owning a gun.

It was a great dog if you didn't scare him( he'd either pee on himself or bark @ya)...ended up passing him along after my 2nd child was born July 06...didn't want to take a chance as many have said... We think about him every now & then but yeah... I do believe he was unpredictable & I did not trust him with a new baby. We have a very large German Shepard now! Whole new set of 'issues' but all in all THE BEST choice for kid pals & protection in one...

What does "passing him along" mean?

We didn't shoot him if that's what you think... We gave him to dog lovers who found him a safer home without young children.
