Features of the New Forum Format?

Note that this forum uses Javascript for functions like the the font changer, there's a few others such as the link to jump to a a specific page. You don't need Javascript to be enabled to use most of the features but it certainly will be a better experience with it enabled.

Figured I'd note that because a lot of people have it turned off for security purposes, yet another thing hijacked from the morons across the world. You would not believe the things that can be accomplished with it but it becomes all but useless if the user has it disabled so you can't use it expect to use it in a web page.

Just to add I'm not completely familiar with the control panel yet, the attachments in PM's for example is something I overlooked. If you come across anything that doesn't seem right let me know.

The ads are back as I'm sure you can see, I'm going to set it up so after so many posts they automagically disappear but I don't have time to do it now.

Maybe its me or the connection, seem when clicking on topics, reply, new posts, it takes a few seconds, sometimes 10-15 secs before it does something? Anyone else?

I'm starting to get better with it. My experience has been pretty fast loading usually, but it does slow at times. It fails sometimes when you try to back up too.

 I would suggest eliminating some of the information under someone's user name.

For example: See below in red. Sort of information overload.

 I we should have a contest for best or most creative avatar
Winner gets PA's finest brew or coal, case of Ying Yak or a bucket of deep mined red ash.

Ironically the date format is possibly the most customizable feature on the forum .

You can change this in your profile under preferences tab, there is few canned selections and if none of those fit your needs you can create your own using the php date syntax which offers a huge variety of possibilities, http://www.php.net/date the only thing you need to use on this page is what's listed in the table on the top. Fro example if you used:

Code: Select all
D F js

Will produce: Monday January 1st

-or-

Code: Select all
D, F js

Will produce: Monday, January 1st

Note that the date format you select will be used for everthing including post times, current time etc.

Anbybody needs any help formatting a date let me know.

Just to add there is lot of things you can customize, for example under the preferences tab, then on the left click the link for "edit display properties" and you can adjust what topics are shown. f for example you only want to see active topics over the last week change it to one week. You do the same for posts too.
