I have smokey coal this year??

PostBy: btrowe1 On: Fri Nov 18, 2011 8:30 am

I"ve been burning now for 7 years and this is the first time I've really noticed that this load seems to smoke more than any other when burning. Could it be it is the oil that I am seeing burn off ?? Heat outpout is fine, stoves burning well, I've just never seen it smoke this much.. No smoke coming out of the chimney, smells a bit more sulfurly (is this a word ? ) Please tell me I'm not nuts or something, is this normal ??

Probably just a bit more oiled this year than past years.

This is my second year with oiled coal, and there is clearly less coal dust around my bin than last year, but also more smoke right after I load coal into the stove--there's probably a connection between those two things. I'll trade less coal dust, with an indoor bin (basement), for a bit more gray smoke right after I load.
