I need seasoned hardwood.

Does anyone know where I can purchase seasoned pole hardwood, and what the prices are in the SW corner of PA? Thanks

Pole wood is uncut, the whole log. I know in Northern PA you can buy whole uncut trees (limbs removed) buy the truckload. I would prefer to purchase it like this so I can cut to length and split to my liking. Also usually cheaper in bulk. I' sure there is different terminology used for uncut logs.

If it is still in log from, it is will not be seasoned.

1. Most loggers don't let the logs sit around. Unless they cut down a dead tree, the wood will be green.
2. Wood doesn't dry in log form very fast. I had a buddy cut down a large ash tree a year and a half ago. We just cut it up and the wood was still wet.
3. I used to cut my firewood from logs. Even a part pile of logs from the previous year needed time after splitting to season properly.

Yep, you can buck it up and split it this Fall, but it won't be seasoned until next Fall. Unless your using one of those Outdoor wood-burning Boilers, you can burn anything in them.

OK thanks for the info. Fortunately I have found a landowner who is letting me cut up some old blow downs. Yes, although some have been down for awhile they are still wet. Others are seasoned well.
