Throttle response was EXACTLY how I like it - very light light pressure on the pedal, but yet a noticeable torque pull. Plenty of power everywhere. It's what got the idea in my head that maybe I should sell the Silverado for something 40 years older. It was that enjoyable to drive.
Now fast forward to last week and the warm spell. With the warm weather came the same surging, and eventual stalling on every hill. It progressed to where my wife would have to pull over & restart the engine on every grade on the way home ...|

Damn.... I thought you had this issue licked....

Yeah me too. Turns out the problem goes away below 30°. Since it was in the 60's for a few days in a row, all the issues came back.

Oh .. and the pump does work in any position, so I mounted it horizontally. Tested in a gas can first just to be sure. Sprayed fuel everywhere with force, so it's good. ;)

And another thing ...... OWW!! :x

No whinin' here - just dripping blood everywhere. All over my tools ...... & the paint! It just amazes me that I can wrench on a vehicle for 30 seconds & end up bleeding like a stuck pig.

Yeah Fred that's probably the stator. I think being that mine cost $60, it's chinese ... and probably junk brand new. IF this fuel thing don't work out that will be next up.

Doubt it's vapor lock, especially while under way ... but with the shitty fuel here who knows. Although I never had any problems like this with my El Camino. That thing still laid patches on command. All my motorcycles are carbed too (although on summer blend) - all run mint. Although one time I filled my barrel during winter ... so some of the bikes have run on winter blend in the past. Something is wrong .... I'll find it eventually. Still thinking I should've gapped those plugs to the old engine specs instead of .060" . Maybe it's overloading the ignition? Grasping at straws there, but who knows ....

Well this morning I rewired the pump directly to the fuse block. Stuffed the wire under the heater breaker. Wife said it ran great all the way in. We'll see how it does on the way home. Was 36° this morning so that's not saying much.

Now on to fixing a vacuum leak on the Marquis! Never ends around here ...... :|
