I took this fine buck last Friday on state land in Rhode Island. He dressed out at 197 and would score around 160 B/C. I got him with a muzzleloader.

I saw him in the morning walking through a clear cut, so I walked around about a half mile to the upper end of the area. I new it was a monster. I sneaked my way through and popped out on a little trail and slowly started to walk down it. I looked over into a little brushy swamp and he was standing there looking at me. as soon as I brought the gun up he ran through the swamp. I took off running down the trail and saw him croosing the trail on the run at about 40 yds. I put the scope up and took the shot. I thought I missed because the was not blood, but then I spotted him on a ridge about 100 yds from the shot looking at me. I figured he was hit at this point. I sneak my way up on the ridge and he jumps up from about 20 ft and i have no shot and he goes into a beaverpond/swamp. I see him in there and finish him. I had to go into 3ft deep water to retrieve him.
the best hunt of my life
