Well it's one hell of a turnout here in Wormtown! :funny: You'd think the hotbed of liberalism would have a better showing. Guess it was welfare/food stamp/heating assistance day ...

I count 5 people in that photo, but two of them look as if they might just be passer-bys merely trying to cross the street. That leaves 3 confirmed occupiers.

Where's Waldo?

Oh yeah forgot to mention that Spag's got sold by the kids to Building 19 ... who pretty much ran it into the ground. Either it's a Building 19 now, or out of business. I stay away from Shrewsbury too - too close to Worcester!

WOW, what a far cry from beautiful Worcester, Pa... The neighboring township to me and also where I grew up... Beautiful country, largely Republican and white... We pronounce it Wore-ses-ter down this way, although some people just passing through somehow find a "C" followed by an "H" in the spelling and pronounce it- Wore-chester??? How in the world that happens, I have no Idea!!! Must be the illiterate from the Norristown (brown) area on their way to visitation at Graterford State Pen... In fact, as a youngster I worked at the local Gulf gas station, cleaning the bays for 4 hours a night, these dark people would pull up to the front door of the station and blast their horn wanting someone to come out to them, none of us ever gave in and went out to them, eventually they would get their fat greasy bodies out of their buick and come in asking " can all y'all tells me what bee da fasses way to Graterford"? My common response as a 14 yr. old was always- "rob a bank"....

I do realize I am in the Mass forum, but we here in Pa. also have a Worcester!!!

the only part of occupy i support are the ones that want to end the FED and central banks . the banks are really robbing our treasury blind . gladman sachs is one of the biggest culprits . at least the last 3 treasury secretarys came from goldman sachs . robert rubin under clinton helped get rid of glastegal act and ease morgage qualifications like 0 down no documentation loans . which let the investment banks bundle and sell bad morgages which bush just continued in his terms . they just put one in charge of greece and another in italy . you may as well give our check book to a bank robber (i was trying to think of some one from the wild west but nothing came to mind) there are articles all over drudge report right now that say europe is bracing for collapse of the euro and riots . this will take down everyone . including the USA .

Yep - no bags at Spag's! That's how he kept the costs down. He was a hell of a businessman - very successful. He was also fair, honest, & a all around great guy,. Knew how to treat a customer - those days are long gone. The closing was the end of an era.

The kids grew up with all that money, and I guess the store became too much work. That's just my guess after seeing a picture of them in the paper in front of their private jet.

Too bad. I met the old man years ago, he was a big ol' guy, wore a plaid shirt and a big cowboy hat. It looked like everybody's aunt worked there, back then the cashiers would be smokin' along with the customers.....damn those kids, that place was one in a million/

Yeah. I miss spags also. It did get sold to Building 19. Apparently the owner of building 19 and Mr. Spags (not sure of the fathers name) were friends. When Mr Spags died, he offered to take it over from the kids. But if you remember, the kids had it for a bit before the dad died. They were the ones who expanded it with that addition off the back and started taking credit cards. After the renovation, it began to lose its special appeal of boxes piled up in the hallways and being a general fire hazard. lol. The store apparently just kept going down from their or the store did not produce the profits needed to keep all the kids happy and rich enough. In any event, they sold it to Building 19 which tried to keep it unique. But by that time, the damage was done and and it lost its original character. Then again, maybe us old farts are just pining for the "good 'o days".

Maybe if the old Spags was still there, the Occupy people would be shopping there instead of hanging around in Worcester???
