Last Friday, I went with my father to DS Machine (238B Old Laycock Rd, Gordonville, PA, 17529, 717-768-3853) to find some parts to repair one of their Riteburn stoves. This stove was in a Quaker Meeting House and had been overfired, warping some of the steel around the door housing, as well as the door itself. Also, the draft control device had been damaged with the lettering destroyed and the plastic control knob melted away. Must have been some high temperature....
In any case, I found the DS location, which is close to the town I grew up in, and looked around the retail part of the operation. They had some stoves on display, but surprisingly few. I am sure they had other stock and could fabricate relatively quickly any of the stoves in their line. I was more impressed by the black pipe and chimney liner supplies, the general stove products and supplies, and their selection of registers. If anyone needs a register, think about calling them with your measurements--great selection as shown in photo below.
I spoke with either David or Amos Stoltzfus--not sure which--who was very knowledgable about the Riteburn, how to fix it, how the draft control was designed to work, etc. I bought a new control, which they make on site. Also got some hi temp silicone caulk to fix some cracks due to warping. Should have the stove repaired in no time.
I am very pleased with my Hitzer 503 insert, but if I needed a freestanding stove, I would stongly consider a DS. Their products, knowledge, and support are impressive in every respect.
