Its 24" of pipe plus the flange on the stove and the elbow. Not really much I can do to get around it short of cutting a hole through the brick into the smoke chamber or flue.. And then it starts to encroach on the 36" clearance rule due to the ceiling.jjs777_fzr wrote: that's a rather long horizontal pipe
Thanks for the tips on the secondary air vent. In regards to the coal level I fill it up to the top of the firebrick twice a day - was just low in that picture due to wanting to let the fire go out
I know I need to get a manometer and damper to get a more efficient burn, they're on the list of items to pick up or build. As is, with the primary air vent just nudged open the stack temps seem to be pretty cool - able to touch the stack for about 1.5 seconds (very scientific I know..) while heating a 1200sqft ranch to about 65F with an outside temp of 50*/25* with the stove in the basement with the hot air flowing up the stairs.
Supposed to be 60*/40* for the first half of this week and then trend back down towards 50*/30* towards midweek. Last year we dealt with the house at 46* for the majority of the winter due to the propane company deciding to charge 4.80/gal so really looking forward to having different source of heat.
Already got her burning again. BRING IT ON WINTER!
