Monster Boilers & Beer anyone?

Is this dead or what? The 27th is pretty close.

We are still going. I stated in the beginning of the month to contact me if interested. We are meeting at the Dunkin Donuts on rt 61 in Pottsville 9:30 on fri. We need to be at the Court House no later than 10:30 to see that boiler. After that we're going to drive to Tamaqua to the Italian Bakery for some coal fired bread. After that some more boilers or whatever you guys want to do. Let me know if your interested.

So, it's 0930 now? The wife, kids and I were planning on leaving around 0700 now it looks like 0600. Still trying to figure out where this Dunkin us but I'll find it.

I'm not going, but have a great time and don't forget the camara.

If you could swing a tour of the old hand fired boilers at the old Silk Mill ( now Ed's U-Save ) I'd love to go. I'm not even sure they're still in place and not used anymore but it would give a sense of the labor involved at the turn of the century.

I talked to the owner of the building. Unfortunately the old hand fired boilers have been taken out. She said their maintenance man knows the history of them and the building. We are welcome to stop in and take a look at the old boiler room. It might be cool to stop in. I think we could still get a good sense of the turn of the century labor involved.

So, I wasn't the first to get to Dunkin. Hehe

At any rate, thanks Matt it was fun. The EFM was neat, it was the first time I've seen a bottom fed boiler it was really cool seeing it in action. I was very impressed with the court house boiler, my daughter enjoyed watching the coal drop down into the hopper. The bakery was probably my favorite though. I'm still amazed that a fire that small bakes all that bread and the bread is delicious. What are the odds you can mail me some?

My family enjoyed the trip too, my son took a lot of pictures of the boiler in court and the oven in the bakery. Thanks for letting me bring the kids. Hopefully they weren't too much trouble for everyone. Again, thanks for showing us a lot of really cool stuff, hopefully we can make the next one and sorry we cut out so early, Quinn wasn't going to make a few more places. She was getting cranky.
