That is just horrible. What kind of scum bag just walks onto someones property and takes the stove that keeps a family warm?

I feel for you man. That sucks!

Vin

Well things are looking up! Just found and bought Chubby Jr. Going to pick it up on Sunday! VERY HAPPY! Don't get me wrong I would still bust a cap into the thieves arses if I could find them. But now I feel like I am getting a much better stove. Just a week later and in time for the cold weather as well!

Come the spring I will get the Jr down to Larry at Chubby Stoves for a rehab and overhaul and get her all dolled up for the next winter.

ciao!

How's this one, last year they cut the catalytic converter off my F150 during work (daylight) hours, while it was parked in the very busy work parking lot, which is completely visible from 5 floors of office building! What'd they get, 25, 30 bucks? It cost me, a tow, 4 days without my truck, and my deductible; well in excess of any money they got! The police response, ya, that's been happening a lot lately.

Traction

That is rough.. Messing with someone's auto is beyond low. And the cop's retort is sadly classic... WE ARE TO SOFT ON CRIME IN THIS COUNTRY!

I got to thinking (dangerous I know!) about the design of the Crane 44 that I owned for less than 15 hours. Now during that very brief period I did happen to look at the unit and the design was pretty simple. Which has me thinking about trying my hand at building my own small coal stove.

Has anyone here done this? The Crane 44 didn't look like it was overly complicated.

What's it matter if anyone else has done it? You do it & keep us posted with running pix. Sounds like an outstanding project. Keep your design simple & functional. Later my friend ;)

I was hoping if anyone has done this that they would share their experiance and perhaps provide any tips that they learned along the way. If I do this project I will of course post photo's and the plans for all to see.

I seem to remember that Berlin over on the Bit Forum has done a little stove building. You may want to PM him. Lisa

On Sunday took the drive out to Phillipston Taxachsettes and picked up my new used Chubby Jr! The unit is in GREAT shape and should be up and running the week. I am one very happy camper now. The circle is now complete.

The only way I could be happier is if I could extend my middle finger and leave this left wing pinko bastion of liberalism.

Until then I can't wait to see than "Dance of the Blue Ladies"!

Thanks Lowfog for the tip.

Actually Fred I kind of used the stove as "bait". Just hoping the SCUM that stole the first stove might come back. Only this time I placed the stove on the Farmers Porch instead of the driveway. Chained to the deck. I have kept a shotgun next to the door with rock salt buckshot just in case. Sadly no takers.

Got the unit cleaned out today and will replace the gaskets tomorrow. Scum sucking Home Depot in Saugus didn't have any stove/gasket cement in the store so we went to Santarpio's for pizza instead! 8-)

Pix when she gets all rehabbed up in the Spring. (Going to redo the hearth set up as well.)
