I was going to recommend a DVC-500 to a friend of mine, but after reading about all the electronic stuff that can go wrong I think it will send him in a different direction.

What shame, hard to put up an argument but when it's working, it's a great unit.

Seems like if you spring for a brand new one, you may get lucky and get 4 good years... :?

You see, just like I told you, trained at the GM factory. They are sooooo good at their job I think they deserve a $12MM bonus right out of our pockets...... and you think I am joking.

Wait a minute here, what am I doing? Directing people to POS New Harman (post HNI) stoves? Old Harman are still great!!!!! I am still ready to carry on but we (I) need to get to the bottom of albumnys agony. Of course, I am not mentally exhausted from weeks of battling this stuff. We know about better thermistors and motors. Harman techs know crap about their products (surprise, surprise) and have no intention of supporting them. Clean power is good for any electronic device no surprise there. So now we are down to the board(s) and pressure switch yes? Well, I am not going to trace out the circuit and breadboard it and then reverse engineer it so I need to get to the bottom of this or my DVC AND my P38+ are going to Craigslist.

Albumny keep us informed of this saga. What is your next move?

My next move is to get my new control board back from the dealer plus the pressure switch. I may need to buy a new model ECP ( red leads ) as well.

Then I'm going to send coalnewbie a case of decaf coffee! and A book on breathing excersises to calm down with....your going to bust an artery over this :D ...( but thx for the support !)

When you lead a boring existence mental stimulation is a good thing. I haven't had this much fun since I got my foot caught in the washing machine. :) but ah, red leads, as I told you that is different mine are black!! They must have made profound design changes (powered thermistor? -1000ohm???) and altered the colors so their mentally deficient service techs would not get confused.!!!! The plot thickens obviously only for me - now here did I put that signal injector?

Am I relaxed about this? Well I can now put way the chain saw I was gong to have to take to the dining room table to make heat in order to avoid giving Harman another $1000, but with you it's obviously easy come, easy go. LOL - the way to be. Let's all go out and buy new GM cars.

It appears mine is the new model, with the red leads (ECP). No wonder it took them 8 months to build it for me. They must've been retooling. This is year 3 for my stove. No issues to date. We'll see if it makes it past year 4.

Coalnewbie, how old is your P38+ ?

I too have been following the DVC threads. Its very unfortunate the trouble that some have had with them in the past weeks. Like you the thing would have been in the bed of my truck on its way to the scrap yard. Watching the threads has also completely turned me off to anything from the Harman catalog. Which is sad really, but I won't put my self through it. My house is hard enough to keep warm without the worry of my furnace/stove/boiler going down.

I feel for everyone whose had issues with their DVC-500 and hope that they can get them working or find something else in the meantime.

Now come on Fire be positive buy a New Magnum. Pretty as well and with those all new plastic wheels off the pellet line they can save money making them. Those coal newbie fools will never know. Now the HNI management can boast to the shareholders they made more money from the idiots. With a little luck, coal dust will get in them wheels or a bolt will go through the coal and bingo another 5 series Beamer ends up on the yard of the local Harman dealer. He will gladly come over after a three month delay and after you have frozen to death and put a new set of wheels in backwards (I only do pellet stoves you see - how was I supposed to know?). The HNI shareholders will be happy too. This is the new America we must all adjust.

I refuse to play that game too.

Yes I know albumny, I have to quit coffee in the morning.
