Today marks the 70th year where nearly 400 Japanese aircraft and several submarines attacked the US Navel base at Pearl Harbor. Lets all take a moment to observe the 2400+ dead and 1800+/- wounded on this day.
I'm only 35 but had some family that served in the Navy during WWII, my grandfather to be exact. I'm not gonna pretend I know everything or get on a soap box and preach politics. Lets just remember those who gave their lives so the rest of us can have what we have.

My grandfather was standing in line to receive his discharge papers when Pearl Harbor was attacked. His discharge was cancelled, and he got to spend another four years in the service...most of it in foxholes in Germany.
My Dad was listening to the Eagles - Redskins football game on the radio when they broke into the broadcast to announce the attack. He enlisted in the Marines and spent time in the 6th division as a machine gunner. He fought on Okinawa and from his description of the losses in his unit I am lucky to be here. He didn't talk about it until the last 10 years or so. Thanks to all those that served and are serving.

From the stories my grandfather told me he was stationed off the Jersey coast fixing Navy ships. He wanted to go over seas but from what he had told us, the government wouldn't allow it. Apparently my family had soldiers on both sides of the line. Not really sure how true that is; but it wasn't the first time my family members stated; "We have some very bad people in our tree."
