keystoker coker coal "leak"

I've noticed that there seems to be a small amount of coal that "leaks" out of the sides of the area around the grates on my furnace. It's not much probably less than 1/4 cup per day. Has anybody else experienced this? Looks like it comes from around the sides of the stoker so maybe it's due to there being a small gap there.

Some will do that and you will get some unburnt ones in your ash....

Is that flat piece of gasket material in place on top of the pusher block under the hoper feed? It's held in place by a few rivets and a piece of sheet metal.
