My old Russo stove's blower had a thermostat switch mounted on the back of the stove. The blower would not turn on until the stove was a minimum temp. I liked it because it would also shut off if the stove got to cold, thereby enabling he stove to heat back up and maintain a sufficient draft to suck the gases up the chimney. My current blower is just a simple plug in unit. No thermostat control. It will run even if the stove is bone cold.
Is there something I can buy that will turn the blower off and on depending on the temp? Is there such a unit that I could simply plug into or does it require my to rewire the unit. I am fine with that. Not too keen on drilling a hole in the stove, but that is most likely needed also.
Has anybody done this mod to their stoves? Any ideas out there for me?
Thanks.
Vin.

Nothing to it. Thermostat, relay, some wire & connectors and you can control the fan by temps. Do you want me to draw you a schematic?
Me, I just shutoff the motor on warm days, save about 1/20 kilowatt per hr. the motor pulls about .5amp or 50watts.

Do a search on Ebay or internet, ThermoSwitch or SNAPDISC switch. You can get adjustable ones too. typically 120-180 degrees is a good range. You want CLOSE on RISE settings. So it turns ON at the higher temp.

You want a snap action bi-metallic switch like that shown below. There are hundreds of variations. The manufacture's catalog is here:
