We had a high last night of 52*! Tee-shirt weather! Took away a good chunk of the snow & all my icicles.
Here's the icicles this year with more heat (Mark III + water coils vs. Mark I ), & less insulation (one upstairs room gutted). Most of the ice dams are gone now -- they were THICK! 38* out now, house is 67*. Only pulling a .04 on chimney & damper is cranked waaay in compared to the other night! (single digits).

Smitty, I had the same thing happening here outside this old barn. Most of it has melted now.
I think it got into the mid to upper 40's last night. Rained like crazy also. Wind was whipping about 2 am. All my porch furniture in in the yard and my Snowman and Christmas tree are tipped over. Now its back below freezing and my driveway is a sheet of ice!

We hit a high of 57* today! Boiler is on it's way to 230* -- time to throw some fresh coal on there to cool it down... I'm sweating my ass off @ 73* !!
The snow is almost completely gone, except for where I plowed it into piles! Unreal!
If they didn't dump so much damn salt & sand out there, I might have busted out the Harley!

Hey, Matt....I got out on the bike Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Today was a different story. 9 degrees here right now, wind howling pretty good and the LL just humming along at about 50%. A balmy 72 inside.Matthaus wrote:Daughter and I went for a 2 hour motorcycle ride yesterday, today is a little different though a balmy 12* with a wind chill of -5*F.
12* here. I just got woke up by the backup heater coming on. It fell to 62* inside overnight. The crawlspace with the new plumbing is at 49*. Very happy I insulated and sealed off the foundation of this old building. Baro was wide open with all the wind yesterday. Dead calm right now. amazing the birds don't fall out of the trees at this temperature! Stove is now tended to and I put some big stove chunks in there which should revive the fire in an hour. Coal is now my primary source of heat, happy about that for the new year.
