Funny though, my hunker down and survive for the winter mode still kicks in, even though it isn't very cold here.

Remember not to overwater the palm trees and change to SPF 20.

Peter

I had a neighbor growing up who did bring her horse into the house on a regular basis... She would open up the back sliding door and that horse would walk right in. He would also escape and make his way down to my house and dine on the apples on the trees... Fun times!

Balmy -8°F this morning and wind blowing like crazy. From yesterday around 4PM until tonight at 6:30PM the old gal did some chewing on coal. The house is a warm 72°, garage was 65° until I shut off the circulator last night. It's down to 49° but that's still plenty warm compared to outside.

Anyway....about 150# of coal is now ashes. Doesn't matter though, we're toasty.

Tomorrow night calling for -20° or cooler then the heat comes back Saturday. I'm ready.

I can officially report that Labatt Blue freezes before Molson Canadian. I have never had beer freeze in the basement stairwell before.

-17 and pretty windy at the moment, just got my first ever call from someone asking how to "turn up" their EFM.

Glad I got this thing figured out, should see single digit nights for the next week, a -10 in there. I'm excited to see if I can keep my heat pumps from kicking on, they've barely been running since I fired the stove.

-1 and dropping. First full ash pan with 24 hr burn time this year with Keystoker 90. 40 lbs of coal yesterday, 60 lbs today.
House is warm 75 in basement family room where stove is, upper 60's upstairs on main floor. 75 may sound warm but with air circulation from upstairs it is very comfortable with return air drafts, and cracked basement window for combustion air. Need to install combustion air supply someday when I am bored, where does the time go :?:

And this is my iPhone app for my Honeywell wifi thermostat. I can check and adjust from anywhere I can see from work how my stove is doing. With high and low alarms emailed to me also. Real cool.
