8.3 here this morning. Thankfully, the wind has died down! First real test of my Hitzer. Most of the house is 70 degrees! Kitchen is 62 but i expected that. Furthest room from the stove, NW exposure, lots of windows. I guess I need some fans!

13 here this morning, wind has died down. Boiler running hard all night. Water at 140 this morning, house at 66 although thermostat set to 68. Not too supprised as the sq. footage is at the top end of the boilers capacity. I did decide to reinstall the vent pipe on the oil boiler and fired it up. Water temp now climbing.

Hey it's my 1000th post.... :dancing:

I was hoping for something meaningful to post on such a monumentous event....

But, I got nothing.... :gee:

Other than it got down to 13* last night and the mag stoker kept the temp at 69* - 70* upstairs through the night!! I swapped out the hand fed Mark III for this winter with the stoker in my gradual transition to girlie man. I was wondering if it would do the job since I read some experiences of those that switched to stokers indicating they were missing some heat from their hand fed's even though they were rated the same BTU's.

Went through about 35 lbs yesterday and 45lbs through the night.

Looks like we will be keeping the stoker so the plan is to build the coal bin outside the back wall of the house and run the flex auger to the hopper. No more bucket carrying completing the transition to girlie man!! It will be... get the bulk delivery in the summer, fill the coal bin with the loader, flip a switch to fill the hopper...anyone need to buy about 40 buckets of assorted sizes to haul coal?

It got as low as 7° but it was windy so I imagine it was much colder. House was 72° at 4 am. It's now 8am and the house is 70° but it's 4° out. The stove made it 12 hours at 550° but I did notice when I got up at 8 it was only 400° so I was probably about Max on this coal.

I know! It's a disgrace! I could probably have my state mod status revoked for this. Hearing the oil boiler run is like a thousand nails on a chalk board to me.

That may well be too good for him Fred, from what I hear those internment camps are largely out military forts. From personal experience some of those have coal furnaces in the barracks, taking care of one of those old monsters my be to his liking. :P
