I had -16* an hour ago. It's now -8*. It's not as cold as our Alaska members though. They also got a ton of snow recently.

Strange winter going on out this way...December was the driest ever recorded and now lots of rain causing flooding because the ground is frozen so the rain water doesn't soak in and runs every where. 50 degrees yesterday
Weather seems to be getting more extreme....

-19* at 0800 hrs. Never got above 5* yesterday. I think the weatherman said something about a warm front with rain on the way for Monday and Tuesday. I don't mind the warm weather but hate the ice.

Got the big fat 0F this morning but thank God no wind chill. Had to light the DVC again. Hmmmm, got my eye on that 220K AnthraKing. You think I am collecting stoves, not so. My neighbor came over yesterday and cried Uncle and for the first time actually paid attention to my coal efforts instead of laughing at me. I guess fresh cut, damp, evergreen wood and an insert were not making it. He is such a know it all and that is very irritating for those of us that do. So he offered to buy my other AnthraKing for more than I bought it for. However, he is on his own looking for coal as I have no spare as I loaned my XS stuff to my buddy.

I bet he was making something...creosote. Has the local fire department had to make an appearance yet?coalnewbie wrote:I guess fresh cut, damp, evergreen wood and an insert were not making it.

This weather is goofy. My wife called, said the house was 78.8* and it was nearly 40* outside. She turned the stove down to 3 on the dial and has the stove idling back at 300*.
