-12F on the porch, -20F about 50 feet from the house. It seems I may have some heat-loss through the windows and doors facing the porch...or my Chinese thermometers need to be calibrated.

Yey! Finally, I get to compete with you Northerners. 5* here this morning! (Southern New England.). Unfortunately my Surdiac couldn't keep up with it early morning as it slowed down while we were sleeping, and the oil furnace had to kick on to support 67*. The outside temps have risen back up to the 20s, so we were thinking of taking a beach trip this weekend, and getting a little sun.

Same for me sterling right at 6am. Jeeze Rob, that's brutal! I went out to bring the trash to the end of the drive and feel like I got a windburn and chapped face for my trouble! Very crunchy out there.sterling40man wrote:Not as cold as you up here Rob.................-5 at 0700. Suppose to warm up some tomorrow.

-18 F on the porch last night... I could have used a second stove for rear half of house. Wadhams had very little wind... too cold to walk off the side porch.
I got a load from Whitehall this year... nut and pea... used a 50lb bag of stove last two days... burned nicely in the VigII.

It was -3 this morning on the coast at 0700. The old Glenwoods were hanging tough at 625° on the big guy and 450° on the kitchen range. House was 69° overall downstairs which is quite amazing for this old place. I'd imagine if I replaced some windows and doors there isn't anything the two stoves wouldn't hold back.
