It was 14* when I woke up and left for work. The house was a toasty 70*. I just talked to the wife it's 17* out and the house is 71.2*. Stove is around 420*. Obviously, we've still got some air leaks in the house.

Freetown,

Your stove needs some paint. ;)

3 degrees when I went to work this morning, 11 degrees was the high, 10 degrees right now, and minus 4 degrees forecast for tonight. House is at 68 degrees (which is where the thermostats are set at).

Anticipating about 85 lbs. of coal consumption for today and again for tomorrow.

Brrrrrr! 16° and falling, not to mention that NW wind! Got the Harman crankin' at around 450° and can't get the front part of the house above 68°! The back part of the house is somewhere in the neighborhood of 64° and downstairs below grade (we have a bi-level with the Harman insert upstairs in the living room) is is about 58°. Once the temp gets below the low 20's outside, that little 80k BTU insert starts falling behind. It's a simple case of location and not enough BTUs for a 2000 sq ft house. Looks like we might be burning some oil at night from now till Sunday when things return to normal.

BTW, anybody been keeping an eye on that potential Nor'easter on Friday? I'm glad I got that snow-blower hooked up to the tractor.

6 above and dropping fast :!: The old 63 520 is keeping up no problem. Neighbor has started burning the hard stuff for the first time this week. He purchased a used Alaska hearth style stove that we installed last thurs. What a week to start burning, he'll be seeing the rewards of burning rice from the get go. :D

70°?? Those are blast furnace temperatures! :P Be glad you have your air leaks. I'm sure you wouldn't want to trade with mine! ;)

Gee this is a popular thread for some reason. :) Can I play? Okay...10* and dropping, and my little freestanding 513 is doing an admiral job. 70* and comfortable in the main sections, 66* and tolerable at the "outer banks". My oil hasn't been touched since the stove went on 2 days ago. It does seem the Surdiacs appetite has increased slightly today, but time will tell how much. The main test will be how well she takes to neglect tonite, as I take approx 7 hrs off for sleeping. The past couple mornings were pleasantly surprising discovering a "relatively" healthy coal bed. Hope everyone had a comfortable nite last nite, (I'm sure I'm the only idiot being up this late posting). In this area the temps are to be comparable to you "up state" people. Guess I should've checked my anti-freeze last weekend.
