-13 here, windchill is around -20.

72 in the main house, basement is 80 thanks to the boiler and piping. The EFM had all it wants right now...it has been stoking for the last hour to "hold the line" and produce hot water.

Cold one this morning. 8* outside. Living room is 67*, master bed is 54*, daughter's room is 58*, son's room is 62*. I had the stove idling at 460*, needless to say it got bumped up again. My little girl didn't sleep too well because of how cold her room got.

I forgot (how quickly we forget) that sometimes we need to run with the big dogs too here in the Lower Hudson Valley. 5F this morning and the wind is blowing. This 7000sqft leak box really shows how terrible it is when the weather really turns. My AnthraKing AK110 is completely outclassed this morning but has saved me a ton of coal so far. What am I so do? Oh, yes, I remember, I bought another one and it is just sitting there with it's 14" duct, I even thought of selling once to raise some sorely needed cash. If I think of that again will someone please slap me. So last night a piece of CDX outside the open window, powervent through it, plug in and light up ----- ahhhhhhh - love those stoves. Now where is that spare Dwyer??? Now we are cooking, I'm too old to freeze. LOVE that coal. Come the spring I have to install this more correctly but at least I will still be alive.

No doubt Newbie. This single digit and below zero stuff only takes a couple days to deplete any heat that was built up in the old homestead. It's -2° and breezy (-14°windchill) and the high today is calling for 6°. Last night the cats were on high alert for intruders. I could hear some scratching where a squirrel or some such had their attention trying to get into the attic.

I've been pounding the coal to both stoves the last 3 days to the tune of 100 lbs. plus (130lbs yesterday) just to keep up. No relief till the weekend where we might hit 20's. Might have to click on the steam boiler.........nah..

Checking from Rouses Point, NY. -17 with a nasty wind, boiler house is running about 100,000 lbs/hr of steam. I think that is about 120 million btus/hr?

Took this this morning. House temp still dropping. It's 61° in here now. Stove is 2.5 turns out & 700° +. Went out to burn this morning - in 5 minutes my ears were burning! That wind sucks the heat right out of you at single digit temps.

That's a 3 ... not a 9 - when I first got up I thought it was a 9. Damn electronics ...

EDIT: Guess I gotta get some coffee this morning ..... house temp is 62° and stove temp is 550°. Guess I should expect another dumped fire after today. Another shitty batch.

4 this morning outside....The LL Econo1 is at 650 and we are posting a nice 76 in the living room, 72 in the upstairs bedrooms.

Not a drop of oil burned.

Just good old made in the USA coal from our local mine, Harmony UAE.

-4F in livingston county, 75 upstairs 65 downstairs, stoker running at 17% handfed running at 60% with 1/2 the grates covered with firebrick. thanks for the coal PA.

Looks like that stoker furnace will be going into the Smitty dungeon next year!

Here in the deep woods of southern Ohio it is 4 this morning with 12 below chill factor. The OWB is set at 165 and the house is at 75. Getting 24 hour burn times with a mix of good old $75 per ton bit coal and wood.

It's a Davis Vantage Pro 2. On year 5 with it. Hasn't been without it's quirks and issues, but what isn't these days? Got to solder a new capacitor in the ISS (sensor unit) this spring so it stops eating batteries every 6 months.

Yeah I can't wait to get that boiler hooked up. I'm really getting burned out running the stove this season. Rocks are REALLY pissing me off! Dare I say Kimmel's wasn't even this bad!!
