I saw my baby early one morning....she was walking on down the street
I saw my baby early this morning....she was walking on down the street
You know it hurt me, hurt me so bad
Made my poor heart skip a beat

-Extra points if you know the ORIGINAL musician. Everyone knows who made it famous, and nearly everyone has covered it.

Don't know that one.......

I like anything from the 50's.... until about 1992 -- then everything seemed to suck!

I'm a HUGE fan of 80's heavy metal: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, old Metallica (...and Justice For All & backward from there), early Def Leppard. ... & I like the hair stuff too: Dokken, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, et al.

Van Halen with D.L.R. might be my most favorite band of all time -- every song on every album back then was MINT!! Not many bands could pull that off. I saw them reunited (minus Mike Anthony) in November '07. I dare say the best concert I have ever been to! A fifth of Kettel One helped too! I had the best time since I was 15!! ;)

I just got tix to Fleetwood Mac in March '09 . BIG $$$, but well worth it. I'm obsessed with Stevie Nicks .... still!! Great seats too -- we'll be a few yards away from Lindsay Buckingham. I'll actually be able to see him play pick-less with my poor eyesight!

Blame Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots. Grunge was in, and hair was dead.

Some of the '80s bands are making comebacks. Whitesnake just released a new album - or maybe David Coverdale, not sure which. And the new lead singer for Journey is very good.

"The Sky is Crying." Elmore James wrote it - Stevie Ray Vaughn made it famous, everyone covered it. Not really classic rock, but it's in that era.

Classic Rock is kind of vague, covers a lot of ground.

" I do my best to understand dear, but you're still mystified
and I want to know why
I pick myself up of the ground to have you knock me back
down again and again..
And when I ask you to explain you say....."
???????????????????????????????????

" There are somethings you can't cover up with lipstick and powder,
Did I hear you mention my name can you talk any louder?
Don't come any closer, don't come any nearer, my vision of
you can't be any clearer......."
???????????????????????????????

Very good, Nick Lowe, the other is "Girls Talk", Dave Edmunds. Actually, they played together during that time.
I was a new wave-punk-alt kid at the time. I liked the the big names, but something about the "scene" at the time
resonated with me.
There are some really bands even now, just seems that not as many as before. Tons of " fluff" out there. I wonder if
the decline in the numbers of good bands is related to most school systems doing away with music programs.....
Who knows? Rock On

I recognized the lyrics, I just couldn't get the name of the song.

I got a job with Stanley

He said I'd come in handy

And started me on Monday

So I had a bath on Sunday

I worked eleven hours

And bought the girl some flowers

She said she'd seen a doctor

And nothing now could stop her.

When I lived in Saranac Lake NY they played a song I am not sure of the name by CC "Here comes Johnny with his *&^%*&^&*^*^ in his hand" My roommate had an awsome belt buckle he carved of O with the zone in the center. Loved those guys!!

Hot Rod Lincoln just may be the greatest song of all time! (At least in my book!) Every time I hear it I think of all the times I should have died as a teenager. Hot rod GMC just don't sound right though....

Did his Airmen ever find that lost planet? :gee:

" Son you are gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop driving that Hot Rod Lincoln" I wonder if that is why I drive
Fords to this day? The guitar picking is pretty good. CC covered that song, the original was not as rockin'. Rock-a-billy
gets the feet moving. :D

Asleep at the Wheel does an awesome Hot Rod Lincoln, but they're Texas swing, not rock. Fantastic music nonetheless.
