I believe somewhere on this forum there was someone advertising large bags that were on Ebay . They would hold upto 1 ton each . I looked everywhere and cannot find the post . Maybe it was under the classified section that seems to have dissapeared . If someone knows where it is please post it for me . Either that or I am just loosing my mind and imagining it . Dave

Was under the classifieds, check eBay, that's where he was selling them from. Suggest a search for feed / corn bags . You might want to check with some of the local farmers.

I had a customer that used those, same ones every year for at least 5 or 6 years. He never moved them once they were filled though.

I bought some white polyweave sandbags, to bag up my excess coal. The bags were rated for in excess of 1000 hours of UV exposure, and were made in China, go figure. They had the Esandbags logo on the box.
Within 2 months after filling them, the ones on the end of the pile that were in the sun became so weak that just moving them would cause them to split. The ones that were shielded from the sun are fine.
I'm not saying not to use bags, but if they are stored in direct sunlight, I would be leary using them.

I've had the same experience with used farm animal feed bags I got free. OK when under a tarp hidden from sunlight, but otherwise worthless in two monthsHighlander wrote:Within 2 months after filling them, the ones on the end of the pile that were in the sun became so weak that just moving them would cause them to split. That customer I had must of tarped them then or had different brand. I know they got left outside for the entire winter.

Plastic bags of different sorts are designed to degrade over time when exposed to sunlight (UV). This is esp. true for "garbage bags". They are designed to degrade over time so they breakdown in the landfill, instead of staying there intact for all eternity.
I can understand the made in China bags falling apart quickly, lots of the stuff made there is substandard, hence the low prices.
