HOLY SMOKE this baby puts out alot of heat

PostBy: mooseman100 On: Sun Dec 18, 2011 10:39 pm

Just got my efm 520 hooked up and running today. The temps outside are just below 40, but this thing is running me out of the house. Wife is just smiling. I was liking the 63 inside temp. I have 2 water to air exchangers in my duct work, and let me say I'm impressed with how much heat is coming out, way warmer than with teh LP. I am set on 4 teeth, aparently that is as low as yoiu can go, and about 2 1/2 on air. Low temp set on 140 and high on 160. I have a plate exchanger in crawl space ready to hook into domestic water, maybe this week sometime.

I'm burning coal now, finally.

You need to open the air up more. Do you have a barometric damper?

Oh...and congratulations!

Mooseman,

You definitely need more air. I believe initial settings are 3 feed and 3 1/2 air. I was told to always have 1/2 more air than feed.

Now sit back, grab a cold one and a chair. Sit in the chair, pop a cold one and every 10 minutes open the door and stare at it...................

That should take care of the first night. Repeat as often as you like !!!!!

If you have trouble with the fire going out in warmer weather adjust the high/low temps to 40 degrees apart.

Are you burning rice coal? I have found EFM's recommended start settings of 4 teeth & 4 air and 160/200 on the aquastat to be excellent.

It must be that time of year, I also fired up a fresh DF520 install last night. I used the settings above and it is running excellent with no further adjustments.
