If you look back at my posting history you will see that I have had issues with fine coal ash getting into my direct vent bearings and making them extremely loud. I have gone through 2 motors because of this. I tried refurbishing the one and it held up for about a month and today let loose with a loud wail. SO I have broke down and installed a new one I got last season. Below is a pic of it. Look at the bolted on A shaped piece of steel surrounding the lower fins. My idea will attach to that and extend approx, 1 inch out past the black fan blade and go the entire way down to the hearth pad. The second picture shows it bent but not attached yet. Any thoughts?
