Welcome to the last coffee of the year! Come, join us for some eggs and home made toast & jelly. A good breakfast will help us make it to see the ball drop at midnight. Another year behind us, and another year ahead. It may not have been the easiest year ever, but at least we all stayed warm.

I see more newcomers...welcome!

I think I'll relax & not do a thing this weekend. No lawn to mow, no snow to shovel. No cars broken down <knock on wood> Ahhh, 'tis a perfect time to kick back, make some popcorn & take in a movie or two on DVD.

Hope you all have a superb day!

Ahhh, my first night of four nightshifts are about up. A nice cup of burnt joe sits on the Bunn burner to help me drive home. Looking forward to my quick toaster scramble and a shower. Hope all a SAFE new years weekend!

Yes, morning! Coffee is on....wife has to put in a 12 hour day...so we may or may not bring in the new year.

Our local village started our own ball drop last year, the village has a 160' flagpole they use. Kinda neat for a small town. We can see from our house, it's just a block down the street. We went last year, about 100+ people showed up.

Just finished up some paperwork for the bank to re-finance the house, I can't believe the interest rate(s). We had a 30 year @ 6% (paying in only 5 years) and now getting 15 year at 3.375%. !! Monthly payment is only going up a little bit, but it was definitely a no-brainer to save all that interest and get it paid off much sooner.... :)

Going to work on some small projects out in the garage, weather is in the 40's, but later this week supposed to get down into the single digits! like 6 or 8 degrees. But then back up into the 30-40's.....

Enjoy all! and stay warm.

Mornin all. Love the homemade bread & jelly Freddy. Got to go help Amish friend get some firewood out of the woods. I run the horses & let the young Amish kids do the bull work. :) After that, I too am going to kick back & give myself a break. Thought I'd try to make it to 9 or 10 tonight. toothy Have a Happy New Year everyone.

Happy New Year to all! I just put together a big pot of chilli so it will be ready for this evening. If you are in the area, stop on by. When the sun comes up I'm going to start to remove my kids "tree house." They are all grown or mostly grown and haven't been up there for months or maybe a year. I'm going to recycle the wood as a stand for my bee hive. That's it for the day but I'm sure something else will come up, it always does. Take care and Happy New Year to all. Lisa

I think I’ll fry up some scrapple with the eggs and toast this morning. We have some real nice weather here for the end of December. Easy on the heating bill.

It is hard to believe almost 12 years have past since that scary day 12/31/1999, the day before the world ended. I have to tell you the end of the world sucks as much as the beginning part or at least the beginning I was here for. I was not here at the VERY beginning.

Since this is a coal forum why not go see whats shmokin’ in Shamokin tonight. .Shamokin Coal Drop They are going to drop a big fake piece of coal for new years. It seams everyone is dropping something to ring in the New Year. I’ll be dropping the cat from the roof at midnight and if he makes it I’ll do it again next year, should be exciting.

Everyone have a great weekend and a Happy New Year.

Happy New Year to everyone! Good ridence to 2011. Let's hope 2012 is better. As Freddy said, at least we were warm.

Weather here is going to be warm today and Sunday but after that the cold artic blast is finally coming. Bring it on.

Going to look at a 6x10 dump trailer today. Road Trip!! Three hour drive  to Marylands eastern shore. Hope it's worth it. Tonight I'll crack a couple of brewskis but wouldn't venture out on the road with all the amateurs out there.

Good morning & Happy New Year! No big plans for today or tonight. My wife hoasted a dinner party last night that we still need to finish cleaning up, after that...I don't know. Our partying days are over now that we have a little guy to take care of, so tonight will probably consist of a few beers at home and a movie or two.

Happy New Year!

This past thurs the wife and I learned she has Cholestasis, a condition where Bile acids in the liver do not flow properly and cells rupture leaking acid into surrounding tissue. I guess it occurs in 1/1000 3rd trimester pregnancies and if unmonitored can poison the baby. I really have to hand it to my wife, she felt the itchy symptoms and read up online, demanded at her checkup before X-mas the test be done, and wham a week and 1/2 later one comes back positive while an earlier separate test was negative. A pediatric board convened and the consensus was to induce her labor on thursday 1/5, wednesday will be 37 weeks and baby is already 6+ lbs. Were both very excited as this is our first, and we still don't know the sex. Trying to stay ahead of my honey do list, my wife's nesting instinct kicked into high gear and I just want her to relax.

It sure is a good feeling knowing a 3yr + coal supply is outside and I don't have to go broke keeping our new resident warm. Today will be spent assembling a few more baby items and I need to hunt down a source of custom cigars.

Happy New years everyone. Hope it's a profitable and memorable year for everyone!

It's to be an easy, chill night for me too! Usually, I'm out (the band) playing at some New years bash, but this year I'll be relaxing with a DVD and a beef myself. My brother and bandmates are all in Rio soaking up the sun! I could have gone but opted to stay and tend my stoves ;) and care for my old Mum. What a guy I know, I know... ;)
I saw The Curious Case of Benjemin Button last night on the TV. It was from an F Scott Fitzgerald short story and was very well filmed and done. Sad, but interesting message/movie. Tonight I need a comedy to ring in the new year. Have one called "Paul" about an alien. It's the Brit guys from Hot Fuzz. They are quite funny.
Hope the New is a good one for all!

Morning all! What a WARM mornng! I had to throttle back the dvc500 last night it was almost reaching 80 in the house. Right now, its 79, I may have to actuate the Windowstats.
I'm drinking an ice-water until things cool down.
But I don't mind this mild weather while I am working out in the shop. Rebuilt 5 chainsaws this week, 3 of them needed new pistons/rings, one of them needed a cylinder too. This is costly for the owner, but still cheaper than buying a new saw. Nice pay-day for me yesterday  I couldn't get my 076-Super running, although I used it a month ago. Carb rebuild time. The fuel strainer in the carb was varnished over.

Yeah GAW, I want to see that cat-drop. To make it interesting, it should be into a pool of water, or into your dawg's pen   :shh:

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year to one & all, I most likely won't be awake for this one either. Qbwebb, congrats on the wife's ability to convince the doc's that there is something going on I guess soon you'll have an apprentice coal burner, that's what it's all about.

Morning All and Happy New Year!!
last year this time I was cutting a hole in the kitchen wall for Gretel to breathe. it was 41 then and looks like this year will be even warmer...

Cut into the copper pipes last eve and finished the hot water side and am gonna do the cold right now after coffee... re-routed the feed to the outside faucets and washer from under the house to inside the backporch...we call it the copper room! ;)

Almost finished another huge pot of "hot" chili this week and will be making a nice corned beef and potatoes for new years eve!

this has been a year of huge change for me and I look foward to the new year and continued positive growth of serenity and peace.
