It's 65 degrees here in the Richmond area and I had to open all the windows in the sunroom and the back door to let some cool air in. This weather is crazy! I have the stove set as low as it can go without losing a fire.

How are y'all northerners/midwesters fairing?

It looks like the high here was 42 degrees today, and currently I'm seeing 39 degrees (which looks like it it will be about the low, so we're idling along in a very narrow temp. range here right now). Unbelievably warm for the tail end of December.

34 degrees here with plenty of freezing rain. Everything has a coating of ice on it...good day to stay home next to the coal fire.

I envy the colder weather. I've always been a winter kind of guy. Who knows maybe I'll move up north one day. If I'm not living on the ocean I could care less about it being warm. Even Plymouth England is seeing some warm temps for this time of year, high of 54 low of 52f . We are going down to 36 tonight and we will see a high of 36 low of 21 Tuesday.

-16F last night, 6' snow drifts lining the roads in town, all the roads have a permanent 3" layer of ice and hard pack snow, 2.5' of snow on the ground everywhere else, snowing right now...I love it.

Sorry you're having to fight your way through the unseasonable weather - stay strong.

I hope the weather cools down for you soon.

Happy New Year!

:)

I really have been looking at Alaska over the years. My grandparents brought lots of great photos many years ago when they went. I've also met a a lot of folks from Alaska when I was in the AF. What a beautiful state :).

It was so warm here I actually got out and did some bush hogging on an open station tractor. Voluntary tractor work on an open station on new years eve was a first for me, and I've been doing it a while. However, Monday and especially Tuesday are going to be altogether different!

haha right on, I got on one of my Farmall Cubs, a 1958, and was pulling logs. I still am cleaning up from the hurricane that hit us. I also split a lot of wood in short sleeves.

I was working outdoors in short sleeves, too, but things are forecast to change fast. We will go back to work on Tuesday with a 19* low if the forecast is right. That should be interesting what with the school buses having sat unused for 10 days. We always have start up problems after a break but the extreme cold for us will undoubtedly push a few more buses over to the no start side; not a good thing with the kids standing on the corner. :(

It seems that we'll finally need to secure the hatches and bundle up - take care, Lisa

I hear you. Here in NE we are warm also. Never remember seeing it like this before. The days are warm, 40F+ and the nights around 30 or so. But this is still warm for coal I feel. Coal likes it colder when the drafts really get cranking and the air's moving thru the coal. Then again, we are all saving on coal as we are burning much less. We are also getting much longer burn times as we limp our stoves along. :)

Vin.

Today it was 12 C, +/- 53 F, and I didn't use the stove.
But tonight I lighted the stove, it was a bit chill in the house, burn some wood now and a tiny bit coal.
And ofcourse a happy and prospherros 2012 from the Netherlands.

Peter.
