No problem. Don't sweat it. I don't mind the questions. Believe me, I honestly considered the thought of building out the hearth, but like I said, I'm already at a prime for space in my living room since it is more narrow (maybe 11.5 feet in width). I could probably do the cement block and board, but my wife has decorating taste that would not tolerate that. I know she'd think it was ugly.
I've just made up my mind that I'm going to have to do the best that I can with my stove. It is what it is. It could be worse. At least I have a reliable heat source that keeps the house comfortable, even if it only works well when the temps go down to the upper 20's. Today it has been about 53 degrees, so my stove is doing way more than necessary. I wish I could bottle all this heat and save it for when it goes down in the teens.
