I just keep a length of steel stuffed into the Axeman's firetube. Nothing scares an intruder like a a red hot piece of steel.

You could hit and still kill someone behind drywall. I would bet at close range, a slug would have enough energy to go threw a body, drywall and still have enough umph to hurt a family member in another room. I know I would not want a 12 gauge blast of bird shot to my face and eyes. In the middle of the night, when you are not shure of who is where, why risk a family members life. Everyone talks BIG but till the situation arrises, does anyone know how they would handle it if they just woke up. Mistakes can happen, how many where killed in the military from friendly fire, and they train continiously.

YES, I agree, but think of during the middle of the night, how long does it take till you are awake, how long does it take to grab a gun, how long does it take for your eyes to adjust to the light ? I know it that amount of time a person could walk from one end of my house to another a couple times. My hallway is common to all the bedrooms, if I would shoot down the hall and someone came out from behind their door ??? In the middle of the night, they may be ready and you are not.

Or it could be a family member. Sooo, you'd best have your *censored* together, or you have no need to have a gun in the house. We talking about protecting them here or shooting them--ACCIDENTLY-- Personally, I'm alert immediatly as is my vision.

It's real easy to say what we will do before the fact. After, (PRAY IT NEVER HAPPENS) we may be talking about how it would of been handled better,different. Isn't their alot of things you would of done differently after you see the out come ? As they say, hindsight is 20/20. It would be interesting to hear from someone that went threw it and what they did and would of done differently. My neighbors had someone enter their garage at midnight, they were awake and up (sound of mind), their ALARM went off, she reset the alarm and thought nothing of it. A 1/2 an hour later it went off again, they must of stayed in the garage. Her husband went out in the truck and drove by the door with a spotlight and gun. They were gone but I bet they would of done things differently. IF someone will break into your house, they wouldn't TELL YOU THEY ARE COMMING, AND THEY WILL BE READY.

I give this case to all, YOU have a garage un-attached the the house, it's saturday night at midnight, you are awake, lights on, and your alarm goes off. WHAT WOULD YOU DO ??????? And how many minutes did it take for you to come up with the answer ????????

No minutes--I'd let both dogs out, being they are my alarm system, grab my semi auto 22 which hangs right over the door ( usually used for coyotes) & see what the dogs flush. I would not shoot the person, but, I would certainly lead him, bullet wise off the property. A big PS--if one of my dogs got hurt, the leading would escalate to hitting. ---gun control, being able to hit what you aim at.

In court, the judge says why did you need to use deadly force if they were not in your home where you were threatened. He lives, and between him and his lawyer they sue you for his dog bite, not having your dog on a leash, and they take house and garage(ON A SILVER PLATTER) while you sit behind taxpayer housing bars. Not saying it's wright, but ANYONE ELSE HAVE A GO AT IT ???????

All jokes aside, I think it is pretty tough to know how you would handle that situation unless you had lived through it. When I was very small I remember my Uncle catching someone stealing gas from the farm pump in the middle of the night. As I recall he went to work on the guy with a cattle cane...not something that would fly today.

Kinda with you FF. Have to let the kids out first to keep em there while the better half and I Figure out who gets what gun. I picture her wanting to bring two. Funny thing I just thought about, our female loves to play with a laser and attacks anything the little red dot is on and the male loves to back her up, thinking I would have to bring the pocket pistol with the crimson trace and put the little red dot on his ****s

Your right about be sued now days, but if the perp is in my garage, my dogs don't need to be on a leash.
