Anyone have any experience with the GE Simon XT wireless home security system? Also, shot gun or handgun for home defense?

I have quite a few guns for home defense. A mossberg 500 always makes a nice home defense 12 ga .

My Springfield XD 9mm serve as my carry fire arm.

Two .22's one with a scope bolt action is my ground hog sniper and the .22 semi auto is for when I chase the ground hogs in the woods lol

I also collect a lot of military rifles.

How does a Mossberg 500 12 GA pump action and a Walther PPQ sound? Or should I go with a revolver?

Used to install security systems, however I've pretty much worked with everything except GE. However, most of the systems work in the same ways. As far as home defense I got my ar-15, def would like a shotgun next.

My first defense is a double combo like HBs & Carbon 12, a high =low Shih Tzu & a Shar Pei-Rot mix, if they get by them my lab will take them for a walk. When they get back I'll shoot the intruder & keep the dog, he'll be rested by then & let me go back to sleep for a long nap before the cops get here.

Just shot my christmas gift the wife bought yesterday, mossburg m500, seems like it will be fun for home protection, also have a Kel Tec PMR 30, wich holds 31 rounds of 22 mag.super light weight and accurate, and 40 cal.Taurus 24/7 pro w/ hollow points, rottweiler, and a dingo shepard.the dogs alone are enough of a deterrent for unwelcomed visiters, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Shotgun with bird shot will not over penatrate walls if loved ones are behind them, not as lethal and would show you mean buisness. 1 bird shot in the chamber, followed by buck shot and slugs in the tube if the first shot doesn't do the trick.

Definitely Shotgun

Nothing spreads fear like the sound of a shell being racked in a shotgun.

Forget the slugs, 00 buck or even 000 3" shell goose loads will do the trick. Maximum effect with a spread pattern to cover the 3' wide hallway.

Teach the family proper safe procedures to secure themselves in their rooms or escape to the back badroom, load up, dial 911, and what ever happens, happens. Safety of your family is paramount.

Remember, only you can protect your family.

Most of you guys are from PA , one of the few commonwealth states just like Virginia. I actually bought a mannlicher carcano rifle from a little shop in West Mifflin PA. The good thig about PA is ya'll have Castle Law. We don't have castle law here in VA which can make it a bad situation for the victim trying to protect their home. We could easily get caught up in court proceedings and would be at the mercy of the jury. But that wouldn't stop most of us from protecting our family, whatever the means.

I remember some one telling me years ago, a shotgun sounds better in court, they were designed to put food on the table, not like an ak 47, ar 15 or a pistol .
