Well I had to go to Pittsburgh today to take my daughter to childrens hospital, She was bitten by a tic in the begining of November. I found it on her back when I went to give her a bath, called my parents and they rushed over. I got her dressed and went to an Urgent care facility to have it removed. They sent it off to be tested it came back positive and they ordered a Blood test (Lymes Pannel) it came back positve, they treated with antibiotics and retested a few weeks ago. Where I live the only Infectious Disease Physician only saw adult paitents. So last thursday I got the call to be at childrens hospital in Pgh for today. They explained Because of my fast response, and the Dr treating it ASAP, she dose not have the disease, but she has the antibodies. and the antibodies may stay in her system for years. My mother and I were confused about what he said, but after I explained to him that it came down to, that we did not understand. LOL, but all is well with my little girl, and I am thankful, She will be 3 on Feb 11th. So she will have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! If you get bit don't fool around go get checked out. From what I have read on the net and heard from the doctors, time is the enemy. Thank You to all that took the time to read,

I was born with a cleft lip and pallet and nasal fiscula. I frequented Childrens hospital in Pgh for 5 major operations first one was when I was 3 days old, that was in 1984, I was lucky to be born into the time I was when they were figuring out how to take care of that. I have a pic of me in the topic "for us truckers" I just don't want her to have experiances with testing and all the rigamarole that goes along with having problems at young age like what I had to go through.

I hear you, my youngest really gave us a scare she arrived 3 months early due to a tear caused by the recent older one (irish twins) ;) . She was 2lbs and tiny and looked very rough, I spent every night at the hospital for 3 months. I would have taken her place if I could have. Shes good now all caught up.

Glad to hear she dodged a bullet. Youre to be commended for your quick action. You should get a book called COPING WITH LYME DISEASE. Lots of good info good to have just in case. Ive had Lyme for about 40 years. Not fun.

Glad to hear you caught it early & all is well lump, as you know our area is well known for deer ticks that are major carriers. I've had to take a few off of my dogs, have to check them out all the time as well.

Good catch, glad she is going to be OK.

Just curious...that looks like a "regular" wood tick to me, I thought lymes was only transmitted by those tiny deer ticks? I had a couple regular ticks that bit me and looked like that this past summer, but I didn't bother with the lymes test since they weren't deer ticks. Those deer ticks are tiny little buggers. The only way I can see them is if they are moving or if they already bit me and the red spot shows up.
