So I have been thinking of upgrading to something newer. Someone around here in CT is selling a Hitzer 50-93. The stove is 5 years old and he wants $800 for it. I think thats too much so I am trying to negotiate with him over it.
Would this newer 50-93 be a worthwhile investment? Would it be more efficient than my old warm morning or is it a waste of money?

BTW, I honestly don't know if my stove is a 520 or a 523.

I assume you are burning anthracite. If that is the case, I think you would find the Hitzer to be a better controlled stove. The hopper and bi-metallic draft control makes for loooooong steady burn cycles. The stove is also built very rugged. Forum member Freetown Fred can give you the inside scoop on the Hitzer...he has been staying toasty with one for a few years now.

I'm also looking at a Harman mark 1. Any opinions there?

Good stove...but the Hitzer will put out more heat and do a better job keeping a steady temperature.

Compared to the 50-93. I DON'T think so. ;) PS--good price on the 50-93 as Qball says below. :)

I sold a 5 year old 50-93 to someone in CT for $900 earlier this season. If it is good shape that is a good price.
