Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Alaska Channing 3

Post by Lee1 » Mon. Jan. 23, 2012 8:22 am

This is my third year. Alaska Channing 3, rice stoker. Initially wanted to heat basement, then realized it could heat the whole house. Oil fired boiler only comes on to heat hot water. Added return cold air from farthest bedroom then using convection blower to pull vaccum. It works good enough to move air.

4th year here. The K6 should have paid for itself spring 2013. Saving about $1,500 per year. :D

2 or 3 years with Memco wood boiler burning some coal. More coal towards the end then wood, 3rd year on Harman Vf3000 boiler, hugh savings in this climate.

Two. Well, technically 1.5 seasons thus far. Started with a Chubby SR in the beginning half of the 2010/11 season and then switched out to a DS Machines DS-1600 Hot Air Circulator. Now I just use the 1600.

4 years; 1 before the forum and 3 after. What a difference the forum makes! I've increased my heat production and decreased my coal usage. Now looking for second stove for my basement room.

Have been burning anthracite nut for 23 years, before that it was wood for 10 years.

The central heating in this house is FHA oil and has not run continuously for more than a two days in 33 years. The tank is filled about every 9 years or when the price of oil hits bottom like it did in June 2009.
