Coal Photo Competition

Coal Photo Competition

PostBy: Richard S. On: Fri Nov 16, 2007 7:52 pm

I need a photo for the background on the top pane, this is what I want. I picture of coal burning, who would have thought of that huh? Perspective is going to be important because most of the top and bottom of your image is going to be cut off (see image below, the parts in red won't be used). My suggestion is for close-up with a lot of detail preferably with a lot of blue flame. I'll see what i can use and maybe even put it up for vote. Can't offer you anything, just a thanks.

The original photo must be at least a 2 mega pixel image, bigger is even better. Upload a resized sample here and if picked you can send me the full size original.

Directions:

1. Take the biggest picture your camera will allow.
2. Use the directions here to resize so you can get within the upload file limits : How to Resize Images
3. Be sure to preserve the original file from the camera because if I'm going to use it I'll want that copy instead of the resized one you upload.
4. Upload the resized copy.
5. If it gets picked I'll provide a method for you to upload the really big version.

Well any size will do for right now but the original needs to be big , the bigger the better. 2 megapixels is about 1600x1200 but that's about the minimum I will need. I'd prefer the exact file that comes from the camera if it gets picked. If you're camera doesn't make images that big feel free to upload some anyway, I may still be able to use it.

Here is a good example from this post, Thank you, everyone who helped us. Check out our stove!

Except I want it like this, so I get a lot of detail. I had to blow this up a bit because it was really small. Closer is better, just don't burn your eyebrows. :D

I'd do it myself but my furnace is just no good for getting pictures.

So the final size is 269 pixels by 170 pixels. That is the size of the pic you posted.

I'm posting an example of what I'm looking for not the dimensions. The bigger the picture you have the better. However you'll have to make copy that is resized because an image that large can't be upload here because of the file limits.

If you picture gets picked I'll want the original really big one.

Edit, trader I edited my first post, I hope that clarifies what I mean. I know I can some times be confusing.

Image

These were from last year, with a 2.1 Mp camera; I have a newer 7 Mp camera now and could get a higher-res similar shot if that's what you're looking for.

Now if I could just get the color and height of Oo-v-oO's picture, with the width of e.alleg's and Dallas's picture I'll be set.

This is what I'm going to do, I'll pick maybe 3 or 4 of the best ones that can fit my needs and mock up each picture so everyone can see how it's going to look then I'll put it up for a vote.
