That'll rid the place of those pesky varmits: squirrels, mice, rats, buildings, machinery, trucks, etc.

Old 2 Gauge Shotgun (I never knew what a punt gun was)

How would you like to shoot this one? During the civil war they were used
to bring down flocks of geese and ducks to feed the soldiers. They drew
straws to see who had to put their shoulder behind it and pull the
trigger. They have one on display in the museum in Gettysburg ...

My father actually remembered using one of those punt guns many years ago. People actually sold the game they shot to the markets in Boston and NY. We never figured out where it went. :( They used to live trap rabbits and put them(dead) in barrels and send them off to the markets also. Much like Africa and other countries today I guess. I remember finding the traps in the woods that were not found or just left behind.

they did not put their shoulders behind the gun stock. It was mounted in the "punt", a rowboat, and they steered the boat to aim the gun. they were rugged in those days but not that rugged.

They must have built some awfully rugged row boats back then.
