Keystoker Boiler, how does coal bin attach to boiler side?

PostBy: beatle78 On: Sat Feb 04, 2012 12:15 pm

OK, it's been so long since I took the coal bin off that I don't remember how it attached. I see there are 2 nuts welded to the boiler, but there are 2" openings in the sheet metal on the coal bin. Can someone snap a picture and send it to me?

Thanks!

You mean the hopper? There should have been 4 big washers.......2 for each bolt. :)

Fender washers at your hardware store. Sometimes you have to re=drill the centers to get the required 3/8" hole. Sloppy is just fine, all the bolts do is keep it vertical anyway.

That Keystoker hopper is a source of constant amazment to me.It is made of relatively light weight sheet metal yet it does the job without bending, bowing,or distortion of any kind.It just shows me that the Keystoker folks know what they are doing.Mike

beatle,

Just in case you have a hard time getting a big enough O.D. fender washers w/ the correct I.D. for the bolt...use a 4" round or square galvanized electrical box cover w/ 1/2" center knock-out for the jumbo washer. ;) Bigger is Better when you have a couple hundred pounds hanging on them...You may have them already laying around. :)

Yes, it is...........One that is now etched in my mind. That would cover about any washer size I'd ever use.
