Why, it's a John-e Hand Warmer. Load it up with fuel, light it off until the catalyst burner is hot enough, put the lid on it and slide it into it's felt bag. Once in your pocket it will stay toasty for finger warming for a long time :)

IT looks to have the wing window, chevy stoped putting them on cars since 1967, turn the car around and I can guess the year, I only ever saw cars front side while looking in my rear view mirror.

1968 was the last year for vent windows on GM cars. I'm guessing it's a '68.

I used to use pocket warmers for heat & defrosters in my old VW beetle days, never could figure out how a country as cold as Germany could have made that car.

I did always like chevy and pontiac cars, ford trucks, but I can say I did see one of these new in the showroom. They wanted to charge the guy with a deposit a $25,000 dealer prep fee, that he was fighting about. And I believe it had a $5,000 gas guzzler tax on it. At the time ,my cousin worked at a new ford dealer in Fl. and said I should of bought it, down there, they would of sold it for $100,000 more.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Ford-GT-40-GT ... 19c37086e6

Things I collect:

Star Wars Figures. (Yes, I love Star Wars and Yes, I still buy Star Wars action figures.)

Slot Cars (HO Scale) and yes, I do run them around the track with them. One year it go so bad I was buying old Aurora Thunderjet 500 chassis (Pancake Motor) at $60+ a chassis. Last one I bought was a "Green" (Wild One) Motor and I paid $80 for just the chassis. Didn't include rims, tires, or a body. Haven't bought a new car in a while though.

Tools

Fire Sprinkler Gauges and recalled sprinkler heads.
