My local Costco is having a special on CO alarms. Costco may not be the lowest price of these so you may want to do some comparison shopping but I thought it was a good deal. They are normally $30 but they have a $10 instant rebate while they last. They are First Alert 120V plug in with battery back up and easy read display. Just a reminder, CO monitors have a life span of 7 years - I always label mine with the date I brought it so I know when to replace it. Just thought you'd want to know.

Thanks. The ones with displays are typically a bit more, But @ $20. That's a good deal.

So I'm up at 1 am because my interconnected smoke detectors are playing "musical chairs"" I have 7 smoke detectors and a CO/Smoke detector all interconnected, a couple hours ago all of them went off for one cycle (not a chirp but a full alarm) so I ran around looking for the source of the trouble but I couldn't find anything wrong. Sat back down about an hour or 2 later it happened again, one full cycle and then off.

Checked the CO but it actually talks and says "Carbon monoxide warning" and for smoke, it actually says "fire" fire" so I ran all around the house again but no luck(or I guess I should say thank the good Lord no fire!). According the FireX it says that the one that first went off should be flashing a red light but none of them are so I'm sitting here wondering what to do about it the next time they all go off.

BTW all of the devices are only about 1 year old, I'll be checking battery's in the morning and buying a can of air.

I have two that are interconnected like that and every now and then they do the same thing. It's the batteries. If you have one closest to your stove that battery will die first for whatever reason.

A note on CO detectors, some of the high end ones with the displays will actually tell you when three 7 year life is up. The one I have has a pre-recorded message on it that tells you when to replace it.
