Help with install

PostBy: Adram On: Sat Feb 11, 2012 11:32 pm

I have Keystoker direct vent burner that I a installing. All went well until I tried to fit the stainless steel elbow pipe into the exhaust air tube. It seems to be the same size and I cannot connect them. Any ideas ?

Well, let's see, they are both either males or females.

I'm going to guess they're both females, so you would need a short coupler w/ both ends crimped into male ends.

If it is the other, you guessed it, you need a short piece of straight stove pipe to accept the 2 males. ;)

Sheet-metal shops have a hand cranked or machine to roll the pipe and crimp it into a male end. You may want to enlist them for help...the stainless is a little tougher than the steel, but still easily done w/ the machine/crank.

What kind of pipe are you using? you need to make sure you seal it good at all joints and elbows, since it is pressurized.

I found a crimper tool at Lowes a couple of years ago for about $25. It takes a minuute or two to crimp all the way around a 6" pipe, but it works great.
