Phoned the manufacturer of Golf 98 and asked when they were coming out with a coal model and I am still waiting for a reply.

MRE's only good for 7 years. Freeze dried is good for 20 +. More expensive, but last nearly 3x as long.

Been watching Independence USA on GBTV. Great show. Last Wednesday they rigged their late 60's Chevy pickup to run not just on wood gas, but propane & gasoline as well. Good stuff! 8-)

They also have a live stream of their goats!

I'll tell ya - that live feed is MUCH better than watching CNN. I think it has more viewers too!

In 1968 I was eating C-Rations left over from the Korean War & it was still eatable, I don't think it ever could have been considered good. The scrambled eggs in a can were covered in a protective layer of grease & the Hershey's milk chocolate was now white but noting killed us. Scoop up some gravel in an empty can, slide under the chopper & drain some JP-4 into it then stand back & throw a match, heated up a little & it all tasted alright. Just keep in mind you have to eat to live & don't live to eat.

GOD has it under control
God helps those that help themselves. You need to re watch the original Poseiden Adventure, Gene Hackman is my type of priest.

The mental picture of warming c rations with chopper fuel brings back memories. On the ship, in the warm Gulf of Tonkin we had an abundant supply of Korean War era sterilized milk.It came in what looked to be 5 gallon tin cans.It was an off yellow color, poured a little slow, and had a distinctive smell to it.That stuff single-handedly ended my love affair with breakfast cereals for many years.I am not complaining one bit, just acknowledging what a privledged people we have been. Some folks in this world live their everyday existence as if it were dooms day ,from one scrap of food to the next and I try not to forget that. Mike

You swabbies got all the good stuff, we didn't know what breakfast cereal was. As for the milk I was told the chocolate stuff wasn't too bad, I even started drinking my coffee black at that time but our bear really liked the milk.

I can relate to Sam with the JP4 warming our rations in a frozen Germany....not in the DMZ. Our 1967 rations were Korean War era rations, too. Fortunately, 'locals' would 'penetrate the camp' most evenings with ample local beers to satisfy demand.
If 4 more years of this crap occurs, we WILL experience a Dooms Day. 'Preparation' is the correct spelling......like the 'Preparation H' situation we are all in and have been in for a few years now. Robin Hood may just want to look over his shoulder...  :!:

Most of you must know what C-4 is well we would cut a chunk and put it in the cookie tin and lite it to heat our food. Stuff burns awsome.
