I paid a whopping $100 for my JR and it was in good shape. Jr's are hard to find. I see at least 50 reg Chubby's for every Jr listed for sale in the MA area. Most Chubby's I have seen for sale are in working order. I know Larry at Chubby Stoves doesn't have in Jr's in stock. These units are tough and idiot proof. I can tell you this much. You will LOVE your Chubby.

Well I guess this will be a good test for the Chubby Monday night when it gets down to 10 degrees.

I'm sure I'll get heckled - but just because you 'can' put a baro in doesn't mean you have to - I'm skeptical how necessary they really are (yep...read lots and lots of posts on the subject)

Well it's almost the end of the burning season. I just build a small fire at night. Later this year I will hire up my mason to raise the flue on my chimney and put in the barometric damper in and will be all set for the new burning season this fall. I have been pricing around and don't know if I will build a coal bin out side next to my porch or just get bags and store it in my garage like I have before. Not that much difference in prices between bag or loose.

Where are you located?? the cost of bagged is about 1/3 more than bulk in most areas.

Got my 2 ton of coal delivered on Sunday and I am still burning. I will be all set for next winter.

Congrats on your Chubby, best coal stove out there. I have the large model and have been buring coal for a few years, it is the best and most even heat I have ever felt, not spiky or over bearing like wood can get. I get 15 to 20 hours on a single burn, one 40 lb bag lasts me just about 2 days.

Today I picked up a Jr. Chubby for my upstairs for a whopping $75. I am going to replace the grate but other than that it is in excellent shape. I was so excited when I was picking it up I almost couldnt contain myself, sounds funny but I have only seen two other Jr's in my life, one was a friends and the other was for sale and I missed it. This one was not going to get away.

if you have been wanting a Chubby get on asap they are worth every penny and yes Larry is a nice guy and stands behind his product. I met Larry in person at his house/shop when I bought my grate and other parts for the Large Chubby.

Congrats on getting a Jr!

JR's don't show up for resale often and about the only things rarer that a Chubby Jr is the Chubby Brickstone and the Chubby Coal Insert.
Honestly I don't know how I survived all these years without my Jr.

I bought my chubby from Larry in January. and I am still using it. Would love to find a Brickstone.

For those of us that are not familiar with a brickstone,can someone fill in the blanks? Thanks, Mike

The Brickstone is a small square Chubby stove. The name reffers to the small brick motifs on the front of the stove, around the window. These stoves are quite rare.

Mike.... There is a picture of the stove on their website at chubbystove.com. I haven't seen one yet, but would like to. Maybe someone here on the site has one and could post some pics.

Stick to the original Coal Chubby or Jr., The brickstone was made as a failed attempt to compeat with the Russo back in the day but never quite preformed to the standard Larry's original design did (which is why its so rare). The Chubby is a legendary stove (at least in New England area), In my mind the Brickstone is NO Chubby and i've had experience with them all.

Out of the THOUSANDS of Brickstones Larry made I have never seen one come up for sale. And I Iook everyday online for one. That tells me people who own one aren't letting go of them. I am aware of one person who owns Brickstone and he says you can have his Brickstone "When you can pry it from his cold dead fingers."

I think your statement about Brickstones is pretty bold and somewhat biased. Of course you are entitled to your opinion.
