I think my dream toy is the Mitsubishi i.
OK Freddy, as you are a natural leader of men, show us that you can use this car throughout just one ME winter and I will follow your lead. In your review please include cold starts and road trips and range at -10F, prewarming the car to about 50F prior to starting out on your journey with w/s cleaned by the hot air only please. With regen braking, ice and snow handling. Please also leave it outside during mud month near the coast and see if it still holds a charge. Please include a recycling strategy for the battery after 8 years as we need cradle to grave environmentalism here. The only reason I ask that is that the original Prius batteries are being replaced and they still do not have a recycling strategy. Go ask a Toyota dealer- they still are working on it.

If you can do it we all can do it. I'm on the edge of my seat.

Someday, there will need to be a replacement for the neanderthal kind of propulsion system we currently are stuck with. When gas and diesel cost upward of, what, $5, $6 or more a gallon. finite supply of crude oil, air pollution, notorious inefficiency and century old design will spell the end of the internal combustion engine as we know. Eventually, even the caboose makes it around the curve

Now, now, now, please note that I didn't say the Mitsubishi was my dream car, I said it was my dream toy. Here in Maine we play with summer toys in the summer and winter toys in the winter. :)

I predicted that YouTube would yank this video, and I see now that they have done so.

Here in horse land we have as cheap vehicles we can get without the wheels falling off. If only overpriced crustaceans were crawling up my back yard. Presidents do not vacation here...... on the other hand.

Overpriced crustaceans? :D We threw in $20 bucks apiece in Jan. and took a whole cooler full to Kentucky. There were 5 of us. we gave them to the guys that were having us on their leased land to bowhunt. They were very happy, and could not believe we payed $3/lb. for them. They are only overpriced because that is what the market will bear. The fishermen here have $500 thousand dollar boats and every toy possible etc. No shortage of crustaceans.

U.S. auto makers have never been good at making small cars, even when they did start a line that showed some promise it would soon lose favor. The ones that hung on ended up doing so because they stuck big blocks in them. Years ago I had an English Ford Cortina, great little car good on gas & I could still chirp the tires when I slammed it into third, then cars didn't need AC, PW,PB,PS & all the other crap we can no longer do without. Seems every time there was a gas crisis the 4 bangers & smaller cars would become popular, for awhile.

Despite the Government Motors matter, I find myself interested in the recently confirmed 2013 Chevy Cruze Turbo Diesel. Better than 50 MPG highway.

OMG, I owned Ford Cortina Wagon (excuse me - estate car) - under powered, tinny, noisy but absolutely indestructible and I abused it believe me. At last we can relate on something.

Do you have to fill up the uric acid containers every 5000 miles and the filters are welded on? Hope it lasts longer than my last GM diesel the Cadillac early 80s diesel. I got 34,000 miles until the engine was pronounced dead. LOL - not for me.

I don't know much about it except that the chosen engine is currently in use in Australia, so it is a proven commodity. You are probably right in that they will take a proven commodity and weigh it down with eco junk that will reduce its desirability, functionality, and longevity. Then if it fails to sell, they will conclude that unlike Europeans and others around the world, Americans just don't want diesels.

You can find the video elsewhere and it most certainly was copyright infringement. This wasn't original production. They took a Volt commercial and altered it slightly with a few different segments that had a different voice over. You have some limited options under "fair use" to use other peoples material but in my opinion that wouldn't fall under it. By law youtube is required to take the video down when someone requests it, from there is various ways to legally rectify the situation if either party wants to dispute the copyright.
